The main purpose is to provide cultural and social support to all iwi commonly known as Mataa Waka (those from many canoes). The Marae helps the local community face challenges in life and breakdown the barriers which prohibits the advancement of equal rights and opportunity for local people. The Marae is available to the community throughout the year. Mainly this consists of Tangihana and Wananag. Te Aranga also distributes used clothing and fresh fruit/vegetables as they are sourced.
