Why is our charity listed when we never signed up?

CharitiesGlobal is built from the official public registers. Your regulator publishes your organisation’s record, and we publish that record alongside every other charitable organisation we hold, so people can find and support you. Being listed costs nothing and always will. Nobody has to sign up to appear, in the same way nobody signs up to appear on the register itself.

Can you remove our listing?

Not the register record itself. That information is public, your regulator publishes it, and we show it as it stands — the same for every organisation, which is what makes the directory trustworthy. What you can do, once you’ve claimed the profile, is mark the record as no longer active. We show that note on the page so anyone who finds you sees it straight away. If your regulator removes or deregisters your organisation, our listing follows the register.

Are you part of the charity regulator?

No. CharitiesGlobal is an independent directory. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any charity regulator or register.We publish what the registers publish and we name the source on every record, so you can check it against the regulator’s own site. Naming them says where the information came from — it doesn’t mean they have approved us, checked us, or have anything to do with us. If a regulator ever contacts you about your listing here, it isn’t us, and we’d like to know about it.

What does claiming actually let us change?

Everything the register doesn’t carry: a description in your own words, your logo, your donation link, your updates. The register details stay exactly as your regulator publishes them — we don’t edit those, and neither can anyone else. Claiming puts you in charge of the rest of the page.

The register details are wrong. Can you fix them?

We can’t change them here, because we publish the register as it stands rather than our own version of it. The fix is to update your record with your regulator; when they publish the change, it flows through to your listing automatically. In the meantime, the description you add by claiming is your own words, and that’s what most people read first.

Who is allowed to claim our profile?

Whoever can receive email at the address on your official register record. We send a verification link there — not to the person claiming — so control of the profile always traces back to the contact your regulator holds. We never show that address publicly.

What happens if our registered email address changes?

Access follows the register. When your regulator publishes a new contact address, the existing claim is paused and the profile needs to be claimed again from the new address. We’ll email the old address to say it’s happened. It means a colleague who has moved on can’t keep control of your page — and that whoever holds the official contact address can always get it back.

Someone has already claimed our charity. What now?

Get in touch at support@charitiesglobal.org and we’ll look into it. A claim can only be completed by someone who received the verification link at your registered address, so in most cases it’s a colleague — but if something looks wrong, we’ll sort it out with you.

What does it cost?

Being listed is free, and claiming your profile is free. We will never charge a charity to appear or to control its own details. The paid plans above add the things that help you grow: reaching the supporters who follow you, publishing your own donation link, posting updates and appeals, and being promoted across the site and our channels. Premium also includes your impact report. Both are entirely optional, and you can claim without ever looking at them.

What do you do with our data?

The listing itself is register data, already public. Anything you add by claiming is yours, and we use it to show your organisation on CharitiesGlobal — we don’t sell it. Our privacy notice sets out the detail. If you’d rather ask a person, email support@charitiesglobal.org.
