Taranaki Mounga, is a ten year project involving pest control and reintroduction of species over the 34,000 ha of Egmont National Park, with the aim of making it the first predator-free national park, creating a haven for native wildlife. The project is a collaboration between the founding partners; NEXT Foundation, Department of Conservation, and the Taranaki lwi Chairs' Forum. All eight iwi in Taranaki have come onboard via the Taranaki lwi Chair's Forum, recognising the strong iwi connection and whakapapa to Taranaki Mounga.
