Young at Heart Parent Support Group

The programme was born our of an identified need in 2009 when discussion at the Feilding Strengthening Families Local Management Meeting realised the area was experiencing a substantial growth of young parents in the area. There was a significant percentage of teenage pregnancy. One of the local social service agencies was seeing families in dire straits with no parenting skills whatsoever - e.g. no knowlege of how to bath their baby or what type of food was appropriate to feed their children.

Since the conception of Young at Heart, we have seen an expansion of services that encompasses older parents that need support with their parenting and also integration into community.
