About Wairarapa Wild Bird Rescue

Wairarapa Wild Bird Rescue exists to rescue, rehabilitate and advocate for sick, injured and orphaned wild birds, with a strong focus on New Zealand’s native species. We provide immediate care, transport, veterinary support and rehabilitation, giving birds the best possible chance of returning to the wild. Our mission is to protect and enhance wildlife welfare, support biodiversity conservation, and educate our community about caring for and living alongside wildlife. Through collaboration with veterinarians, conservation organisations, schools, volunteers and the public, we work to create a future where both native and non-native birds receive compassionate care and where people are empowered to act as kaitiaki of the natural environment.
