About Toko Playcentre

Whānau Tupu Ngātahi - Families Growing Together. Playcentre is for Tamariki/Children. Toko Playcentre is an Early Childhood Education Service in a small rural area which provides a rich learning environment for children aged 0-6. Children attend sessions with their parents or caregivers, who form a parent co-operative to providing quality educational experiences for the children and day to day management of the Playcentre. Playcentre is for whānau/familes. The parent co-operative provides support and friendship for all families involved. Parents receive free education through the Playcentre adult education programme. Playcentre is for Communities. The skills learnt by parents attending Playcentre are transferrable to the home environment, other community organisations and the workplace. The friendships made and skills learnt last a life time and strengthen and enrich communities. Playcentres nationwide have a commitment to biculturalism and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
