Funds of the Marae are used for administering and maintaining the land and the marae physical structure. Other charitable purposes the marae provides relates to manaaki and awhi whanau throughout bereavements, relief of poverty and comfort and support to whanau affected by acts of natural disasters; the Mangatu Marae is the main base or headquarters for civil defense. The community near and far can gain advancement of education or religion and other local curriculum knowledge which is provided for the benefit of the whanau, hapu, iwi community. Provision of the arts, culture, heritage, community, and economic development are all part of administering and maintaining the Marae. Local Kaumatua is the source of invaluable advice in achieving and maintaining the overall Marae purpose.
