About The Maisonette Trust
To benefit the New Zealand public by promoting writing and reading as meaningful and rewarding activities for all individuals in every stage of life:
i. by creating opportunities for participation;
ii. by publishing affordable new material in a quality literary journal or journals
(‘the Journal(s)’);
iii. by making the production and enjoyment of literature accessible, enjoyable,
and collaborative.
b. To benefit and support New Zealand communities of amateur writers by increasing
the opportunities for first-time publication and early-career publication in the
Journal(s) and, where possible, paying for first publication rights.
c. To advance internationally New Zealand as a centre of publishing innovation, by
way of e-publishing initiatives.
d. To undertake such other activities and provide such other assistance of a charitable
nature such as will benefit the New Zealand public, with specific reference to
promoting writing and reading.
