About The Best Dog Trust

The overall purpose of the Trust is to improve dog welfare and reduce the number of unwanted dogs and puppies in Northland and north Auckland, primarily through community desexing programmes, and by encouraging responsible dog ownership.

Desexing is a key step in stopping unwanted litters, keeping dogs and puppies out of pounds and rescues, and helping dogs live longer, healthier lives.

• To promote and facilitate dog desexing for owners experiencing financial hardship, with a primary focus on the Whangārei and Kaipara regions. • To provide welfare support in collaboration with community partners and networks, subject to available funding and donations. • To encourage and support responsible dog ownership through education. • To assist with the rehoming of desexed dogs through community networks and social media. • To collaborate with other organisations to reduce the number of unwanted dogs and improve dog welfare in New Zealand.
