About Samadhi Buddhist Trust of New Zealand
The Samadhi Buddhist Trust was incorporated as a charitable entity in 2002 under New Zealand’s Charitable Trust Act 1957 and at present operates a Buddhist Monastery at Hornby, Christchurch. The temple caters to the needs of Christchurch’s community of Buddhists and non- Buddhists who seek opportunities for further learning of Buddhist teachings of higher moral conduct, mental discipline etc. The temple conducts religious instructions, discussions, sermons, seminars and classes for Buddhist meditation. The main constituent of our temple is the Buddhist community of Sri Lankan origin. Rev Makuldeniye Somarathana Thero is the incumbent abbot of our temple and currently there are another 3 resident monks available at the temple
