1. To ensure the Rā Whakangahau cultural event continues to be held every year in Tauranga Moana. 2. To provide an event where children within the Bay of Plenty have the opportunity to perform kapahaka in a positive, safe noncompetitive environment. 3. To encourage children to develop their abilities and skills as they perform waiata, poi and haka within a group. 4. To promote kapahaka and provide an event where school communities throughout the Bay of Plenty can come together and have a cultural experience. 5. To work together with local school communities of the Rā Whakangahau to ensure the purposes of the event are maintained and to offer school communities financial assistance.
