About Pontifical Mission Aid Societies
The Pontifical Mission Societies of NZ has as its major purpose the advancement of religion throughout missionary endeavour and support of the Catholic Church in countries overseas. The particular objectives of the 4 socieites which make up the single entity known as the Pontifical Mission Societies in NZ are : the Society for the Propagation of Faith supports the formation work for missionaries and in Catholic communities, with a special emphasis on youth and families. The Society of St. Peter the Apostle supports the formation and training for ordained ministry. The Society of Holy Childhood encourages and supports children in NZ helping children in other countries. The Missionary Union of Clergy encourages priests to engage in missionary work in other countries and assists in ensuring an adequate distribution of missionary priests throughout the world.
