The mission of the Board is to protect the public through effective regulation of the podiatry profession. The functions of the Board are legislated by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. The principal purpose of the Act is to protect the health and safety of the public by providing for mechanisms to ensure that health practitioners are competent and fit to practice their professions. The Board’s functions are described in section 118 of the HPCAA.
