benefitting the Deaf community, particularly in Otago, by a) Provide for the social activities, sports and recreation of members and in furtherance of such purpose, to provide such amenities as may be determined by the Committee, and generally to promote the wellbeing of members. b) Promote or subscribe to projects of scientific research, the results of which may be anticipated to be of especial benefit to deaf people. c) Promote the publication or dissemination of information calculated to advance the general objects of The Society. d) For all or any of the said objects, or for any purposes related thereto, to obtain professional services; to employ, engage and discharge agents or servants; and to raise, invest and expand in such a manner and in such amounts as The Society or its Committee may from time to time in general or monthly meeting determine or approve. e) And generally to take all such steps as may be desirable to promote, carry out and co-ordinate measures conducive to the
