The purposes of the Trust are to be beneficial to the community by: (a) protecting, restoring, and enhancing Taonga and the ecosystems that support them; (b) supporting and giving effect to kaitiakitanga exercised by legitimate Kaitiaki Collectives; (c) preventing misappropriation or misuse of Taonga; (d) supporting ethical research, education, and innovation; (e) advancing public benefit through environmental restoration and knowledge dissemination.
