The Trade Aid Nelson Trust exists to educate the local community about the nature of poverty and the need for fair trading conditions. We will achieve this through the work in our retail shop, by involvement in public events and through educational talks to schools and the general public. Primarily we will participate in and continue to advance the Fair Trade Nelson Trust as a vehicle to take the fair trade message to the wider consumer community and at the same time concentrate our education effort towards talks to classes at Intermediate and High School levels. These talks will explain how the fair trade alternative to exploitative free market trade works and promote the principles enshrined in the Trade Aid Charter. The Nelson Trust believes that the most effective use of our education time and resources lies in bringing awareness of fair trade products and principles to the general shopping public and by inculcating fair trade principles in young people and we will work to those en
