To establish and maintain the following for New Zealand’s only endemic endangered raptor, the kārearea: • To rehabilitate injured or sick kārearea and when appropriate return them to the wild • To care for and breed from the Kārearea that could not survive on their own and release their offspring to the wild. • To increase community awareness and understanding of this endangered native raptor in order to stop persecution and ensure successful co-existence. • To work closely with the Government and other agencies to assist with research and the gathering of information for the benefit of the New Zealand Kārearea.
