Huramua Marae is a Maori Reservation pursuant to Section 439 of the Native Affairs Act 1953. It is a Maori Reservation that was created and set aside for the common use of the Huramua Returned Soldiers Settlement and the Maori people of the Waiau Riding of the Wairoa County as a meeting place and community centre for the conduct of whanau/family, Hapu/Community gatherings, land meetings, weddings and birthdays, tangihanga/funerals, religious and social gatherings, wananga and community development initiatives, sports clubs and sporting fixtures.
