About Horouta Waka Hoe Club Incorporated
The purposes of Horouta Waka Hoe are to: Promote and support the sport and cultural practice of waka ama within Te Tairawhiti and the wider Aotearoa community. Provide opportunities for youth and whanau to engage in paddling, fitness, and water safety. Uphold and celebrate Maori tikanga, values, and traditions through waka. Support the development of paddlers at all levels, from novice to elite. Host and participate in local, regional, national and international waka ama events. Promote and practice the values of kotahitanga, manaakitanga, kaitiakitang, whanaungatanga, and whakapapa. Seek to develop excellence on and off the water. Horouta Waka Hoe must not operate for the financial gain of any of its Members and that all funds and assets must be used to further the Society’s purposes.
