The Hāpai Foundation was set up to use both capital and income of the Trust Fund to further its charitable purposes in Aotearoa New Zealand, in particular to: (a) Benefit the community and enabling good lives by providing funding for the enhancement of the recreational educational, cultural, spiritual and social lives of disabled people throughout Aotearoa New Zealand; and (b) Promote the welfare of the disabled community of Aotearoa New Zealand which may include providing services for parents, family and whanau of such people. The Foundation's current social enterprise is the establishment, promotion and management of the Hāpai Access Card.
