The Food Rescue Trust is a non-profit registered charitable trust established in April 2013, to provide a link between businesses who donate surplus food and social service agencies who distribute the food. Up until July 2021, our service supported those in need of food and as a fortunate side outcome also helped reduce food wastage costs.

In later 2021 a nationwide organisation called Kiwi Harvest opened a branch in Invercargill and took over the operations previously performed by Food Rescue.
