Establishment of a trust for charitable purposes in New Zealand as a legacy project to honour the New Zealand War Horses that went to the South African War 1899 to 1902 (some 8,000 horses) and first World War 1914 to 1918 (some 10,000 horses) and, in particular, Dolly, the mount of highly decorated Major General Sir Andrew Russell, of Tunanui Station, Sherenden, Hawke's Bay, one of only four horses that returned to New Zealand after World War 1 following quarantine in England
