Deaf Seniors Canterbury

Deaf Seniors Canterbury is a group for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people aged 55+ which also caters towards those with additional health requirements or disabilities. This group meets regularly to enjoy social opportunities and outings, communicating in their own language, NZ Sign Language. It is important to provide opportunities for face-to-face communication to assist in reducing loneliness and social isolation. Many members are not familiar with using technology to communicate so in-person meet-ups are preferred. Some members have lost life-partners, family and friends and Deaf Seniors Canterbury is their biggest support network.
