To lead and facilitate improvement in the wellbeing of local communities and communities of interest by: 1. Increase the number of homes that are both healthy and energy efficient 2. Developing community energy generation and distribution systems that create greater self sufficiency. This includes ensuring energy literacy and fairness, especially for those experience energy hardship. 3. Assisting communities to adapt to climate change and transition to reduced energy ways of living. All the above needs to be embedded within the wider wellbeing aspects of living in communities. CEN works with likeminded networks such as Zero Waste network and Environment Hubs Aotearoa to achieve this.
