About Central Otago Rural Education Activities Programme (REAP)

Central Otago Rural Education Activities Programme (REAP) is a community-based, charitable organisation that provides educational opportunities within the Central Otago, West Otago and Upper Clutha regions. There are 13 REAP’s spread throughout New Zealand who deliver life-long and life-wide learning opportunities that make a positive difference for individuals, whanau and communities.

In 1967 REAP’s were established through Government funding to lead and assist in addressing the educational disparities a community experiences because of its rurality.

Central Otago REAP meets community educational needs by providing experienced personnel and programmes across Early Childhood, School and the Adult and Community (ACE) sectors. REAP’s role is to provide non-formal educational opportunities in a holistic manner to enable people to become more independent learners. In this way REAP is able to ignite, within their learners, the desire to learn and grow.
