About asert-Tatou Development Trust
asert-Tātou Development Trust facilitates a training and work environment known as Te Rito Gardens where tangata tātou (all people), particularly including those who have a disability or are in any other way disadvantaged, can acquire horticultural skills as well as knowledge and experience relating to the sustainable management of resources so as to achieve a positive outcome for the environment, themselves and the community. Working in a team framework, people are empowered with the skills and confidence to “go forward” into a career in the horticultural sector. We provide our service to those with a real desire to learn and improve themselves particularly those with barriers to acquiring meaningful employment. Our practical training programme is mainly directed at young people with learning difficulties. Others involved are older, often retired or unemployed; they act as mentors for our younger trainees.
