The purpose defined by the constitution: To encourage participation in the Arts by promoting Arts opportunities for the social and cultural benefit of the residents of Aotea/Great Barrier Island and visitors to the region. To promote community arts, education, lectures, classes and seminars to encourage knowledge, participation and enjoyment of the visual and applied Arts and Crafts, Performance Art, Literature, Drama, Music and other Art forms. To host events exhibitions and performances in support of the Arts. To promote the character, heritage and natural features of the region through the Arts. To establish facilities, public art works and equipment in support of the Arts.To promote the preservation and protection of buildings, structures, public works of art and places of local intersest on Aotea/Great Barrier Island and to develop the amenities for and advance the use and enjoyment of such buildings structures, public works of art and places in the interests of the general public
