About Amputees Federation of New Zealand Incorporated
AFNZ exists to strengthen, connect, and empower amputees and limb-different people across Aotearoa. Working alongside eight regional societies, we ensure that no amputee faces their journey alone, providing peer support, advocacy, and access to information that promotes physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Our mahi is centred on people and community. We create spaces where amputees can share experiences, regain confidence, and rebuild independence after limb loss. Through events, mentoring, and collaboration with health professionals, we foster belonging and resilience, while raising public awareness of accessibility and inclusion. AFNZ also works nationally to influence positive change by partnering with agencies, funders, and community groups to improve support systems, remove barriers, and ensure equitable access to opportunities. Our vision is a thriving, inclusive Aotearoa where every amputee and limb different person is seen, valued and supported to live without limits.
