1. The SCIO’s charitable purposes are the advancement of health, and the relief of those in need by reason of ill health, disability or other disadvantage by: A. Providing scar therapy to NHS patients on a referral basis by an appropriate NHS health professional, supporting optimal healing of scar tissue, and/or promoting overall physical and mental wellbeing of an individual. B. Promoting and expanding the availability of scar therapy within the NHS by establishing a network of trained therapists ready to deliver this specialised care. C. Extending access to scar therapy for children and protected adults, (but only through therapists who hold appropriate PVG Scheme certification to safeguard vulnerable individuals. D. Offering cosmetic and medical tattooing/micro-pigmentation services, which can significantly improve the appearance of scars, skin grafts, and hears of hypopigmentation, enhancing confidence and quality of life.
