The objects for which the Trust is established are (One) to relieve poverty. (Two) to advance education. (Three) to advance medical knowledge and (Four) to advance Christian religion. And in the furtherance of these objects but not otherwise (a) By providing assistance by way of grants either to individuals in necessitous circumstances or to institutions which are recognised charities. (b) By informing the public generally about all aspects of Scottish Life, work and Culture. (c) By providing or assisting in the provision of concerts, recitals, lectures and other productions and in particular to present or stimulate or assist in the presentation or stimulation for the public benefit of all forms of Scottish Arts and Culture. (d) By assisting members of the public in the better understanding of Scottish Life, Work and Culture through the provision of educational travel arrangements within the United Kingdom and furth of the United Kingdom. (e) By collecting, preserving and publishing books, manuscripts and recordings concerning all aspects of Scottish Life, Work and Culture.
