The SCIO’s purposes are: 1. To advance education through the provision of training and instruction in drama, acting, musical theatre, dance, singing and related performing arts disciplines. 2. To advance the arts, heritage, culture and creativity within communities across Scotland. 3. To advance citizenship and community development by providing inclusive performing arts opportunities, particularly for children and young people. 4. To advance mental health and wellbeing through confidence-building, creative expression and performance. 5. To provide opportunities for public participation in the arts through productions, showcases, workshops and outreach activities.
