5.1 to promote education and research in the Natural Sciences but in particular for education and research in the biological and medical sciences as such terms as may be defined by the Secretary to the Royal Society and without restricting that general purpose to apply such funds and property for the purpose of maintaining, improving and developing facilities for teaching, for post graduate work, for research or for any other purpose in the development of the Natural Sciences and in particular the biological and medical sciences. 5.2 to contribute to the endowment of existing and new chairs, departments and research facilities as shall in the sole opinion of the Trustees promote education and research in the Natural Sciences and in particular the biological and medical sciences. and 5.3 to purchase equipment or to give grants for the purchase of equipment and to give grants for the provision of facilities, whether buildings or extensions of a building, which in the sole opinion of the Trustees can promote education and research in the Natural Sciences and in particular the biological and medical sciences.
