(1) To advance the Hindu religion by establishing and maintaining a Hindu (Ganesh) temple according to Saiva Siththaantha traditions, principles and practices prevailing in Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu (India). The name of the organisation shall be Sri Mangala Vinayahar Community Centre. (2) To relieve poverty in Sri Lanka, particularly in the North and East and Tamil Nadu. (3) To advance education for the public benefit in the values of Hinduism and the Hindu way amongst the local community. (4) To promote the benefit particularly, but not extensively, of the Hindu inhabitants of Glasgow and its environs without distinction of gender, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary organizations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities, or assist in the provision of facilities, in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of life may be improved. In furtherance of these objectives, but not otherwise, the Association shall seek to organise and/or promote: (a) Cultural and educational events conducted for the community at large. (b) Tamil language and Hindu spiritual education classes. (c) Information Technology and computer classes. (d) Facilities for the special needs of the elderly in the community. (e) Health and medical advice.
