(a) to provide for the protection of the items comprised in its Collection* from deterioration, damage, loss, accidental destruction or unauthorised disposal in respect of which there shall be a strong presumption against the disposal of any specimen. *the Collection of specimens, artefacts and other items which were in the ownership of the Scottish Mining Museum Trust (registered in August 1999) and those specimens, artefacts and others which are accessioned in the future by the National Mining Museum of Scotland. (b) to form, establish and support and to aid in the formation, establishment and support of any other charitable companies, institutions, associations, trusts or societies formed for objects similar to the objects set out above. (c) the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science (d) any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes.
