The SCIO will promote, advance and further Charitable purposes through being a national voice for Scotland's hospices, with clear and unified messaging to drive awareness, support and understanding of/for/to the Scottish hospice sector and to collaborate, encourage, and share best practice in the sector and on related palliative and end of life care issues. The SCIO's Charitable purposes are:- the advancement of health and the the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage related to the care, treatment, services, and support provided by the Scottish hospice sector. the advancement of citizenship or community development by way of the promotion of the effectiveness or efficiency of bodies in the charity, voluntary and third sectors (in particular the Scottish hospice sector). and the advancement of education through training and learning connected to the Scottish hospice sector.
