The Association objectives are: To relieve suffering and distress amongst persons endangered by accidents or natural hazards primarily within Southern Scotland and in furtherance thereof but not otherwise. to provide at the request of any Police Authority or recognised Mountain Rescue Team search and rescue assistance through the availability of trained handlers and dogs and the provision of specialised equipment. to raise funds and administer them for the purposes of search and rescue dog training and the provision of essential equipment. to ensure that a high standard of dog and handler search and rescue training is achieved and maintained. and to represent mountain rescue and search dog interest to other organisations and also to the community at large
