The organisation’s purposes are the advancement of education and the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science, through the following activities: (a) The formation and operation of a membership organisation for everyone interested in the science and technology of any mode of rock imaging or the processing of such images or the interpretation of rock images to better characterise and understand the rock’s properties. (b) The sharing of knowledge and expertise in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of sensor data captured from rock samples with all members and event participants. (c) The building and maintenance of a website to publicise the organisation’s activities and share news, documents and example data with all members. (d) The organisation of an annual conference where registrants can attend presentations on the innovation and research in rock imaging methodologies and on the application of rock imaging techniques to better understand rock properties. (e) The organisation of additional events or webinars on relevant topics concerning rock imaging and its application for the benefit of members. (f) The publication of articles, technical papers, case histories, and similar by electronic or other means for distribution among the members or more widely. (g) The bringing together of academia and businesses having interests in rock imaging for the sharing and transfer of ideas and expertise and to direct and fund future research activity
