The SCIO's purposes are to benefit the community of the Kirkshaws area (Coatbridge) which comprises the ML5 and ML6 postcode districts ('the Community') with the following objects: 4. I To provide recreational facilities and/or organise recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for those who are residents of the Community (being the people for whom such facilities and activities are primarily intended). 4.2 To prevent and relieve poverty and/or relieve unemployment, primarily among residents of the Community. 4.3 To advance citizenship, primarily among residents of the Community. 4.4 To relieve those in need (primarily those who are residents of the Community) by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. But only to the extent that the above purposes are consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development.
