4 The SCIO has been formed to benefit principally the community of KIRKKNEWTON which comprises the Kirknewton Community Council area (“the Community”) with the following purposes: a) The advancement of community development (including the advancement of rural regeneration) principally within the Community. by managing, maintaining, and leasing the village hall and associated facilities for the benefit of residents b) The provision of recreational facilities or the organisational activities in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for the community c) The promotion of the arts, heritage, and culture by supporting performances, exhibitions, workshops, and community events held within the hall. But only to the extent that the above purposes are consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development.
