4 The organisation's purposes are: (a) To relieve the needs of persons in Hawick and its environs who are in need by reason of age and to provide, or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure-time occupation of such persons in the interests of social welfare, that their condition of life may be improved. (b) To advance the education of senior citizens in Hawick through the provision of lectures, classes and exhibitions. (c) To promote the welfare of senior citizens in a manner which is now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable.
