1. The advancement of education in the Border Counties and the Burgh of Berwick-on-Tweed by the award of Bursaries, prizes or otherwise. 2. The relief of Natives and inhabitants of the above-mentioned Districts, whether members or not, who may be indigent or distressed circumstances. 3. The promotion of friendly intercourse among its members. 4. The promotion of, participation in, or giving of assistance to, any schemes designed for the benefit of the Borders or Borderers, subject to the approval of the Council.
