1. Promote the conservation of the native red squirrel population in its natural habitat within the Central Borders region, including Hawick, Selkirk, Galashiels, Jedburgh, Kelso, Denholm, Bonchester Bridge, the Teviot River, the Tweed River catchment and surrounding areas. 2. Advance the education of the general public in the subject of red squirrel conservation. 3. Promote the control of grey squirrels in the Network Area using legal, recognized and established techniques. These may be achieved by the following means - a. Encourage the general public to report sightings of red and grey squirrels. b. Engage with the general public and schools to educate residents of the local area about the plight of the red squirrel and conservation actions that need to be undertaken. 3.Liaise with other environmental groups within the Network's remit area to further promote red squirrel conservation activities. 4. Recruit, organize, encourage and support volunteers to undertake grey squirrel control in the Network's remit area. 5. Organize training for volunteers 6.Build up a network of dispatchers to cover the Network's area. 7.Carry out monitoring and recording. 8.Raise funds and invite or receive contributions to cover the costs of the Network's activities.
