The Area Association's objects are: a) To relieve poverty among the residents of Calton in the East End of Glasgow. b) To advance education among the residents of the operating area, particularly, but not exclusively such education as will advance equality of opportunity and the proper observance of statutory equal opportunities legislation among the residents of the operating area. c) To promote other charitable schemes of community benefit, particularly, but not exclusively schemes which will improve access to housing and associated support and amenities among the residents of the operating area in need of such support by reason of youth, age, infirmity, disablement or poverty, with the object of improving their conditions of life.
