The organisation's purposes are to: a. advance education. b. advance health and relieve ill health. c. prevent or relieve poverty. d. advance citizenship or community development. e. advance science. f. advance religion. g. advance arts, heritage and culture. h. provide recreational facilities, or to organise recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. and i. to advance environmental protection or improvement, and to do so primarily within the area of southern Scotland and Northamptonshire through supporting or financially assisting other organisations furthering the above charitable purposes.
