a) The purpose for which the Trust is formed ('the Trust Purpose') is to benefit the communities of Scotland, with particular emphasis upon rural communities, following the principles of sustainable development (where 'sustainable development' means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs), including: (i) the advancement of environmental protection or improvement and the management of land, including community land, and associated assets for the benefit of the community and the public generally. and (ii) the advancement of community development, including regeneration. and (iii) the advancement of education about the environment, science and sustainable development generally and about the heritage, arts and culture of different communities specifically. and (iv) the provision, or assisting in the provision, of recreational facilities, and/or organisation of recreational activities, which will be available to the local community and the public generally.
