Young Sudbury Singers

To introduce choral music to children at little or no cost from September to May of each school year. Then after training with the choir allowing them to perform in front of live audiences at various venues including music festivals as well as participating in video recording projects. Any income retained is used to offer better training in subsequent years. We also apply for grants from various groups and government bodies to offset the cost of performing at various functions within the city limits and surrounding areas as well as a number of video productions by the children. Programs offered include a Senior Choir (Grades 5 to 12) Intermediate Choir (Grades 3 to 4) and Junior Choir (Grades 1 to 2). In addition to the musical leadership offered by our four Choir Directors the day-to-day business of the organization is carried out by volunteers primarily our General Manager Treasurer and Registrar with the assistance and support of other volunteers most of whom are parents of participating singers. Community performance activities included: Kiwanis Music Festival of Sudbury 75th Anniversary Gala Concert (October) singing at the Sudbury Market (November) performing on the local Telethon singing on CBC Radio and staging our Christmas concert (December) presenting interactive performances at two local libraries (January) singing the anthem at the Sudbury Arena (February) participating in the Sudbury Music Festival and staging a joint concert with local artists Jamie Dupuis and Emma McDaniel (April).
