Young Family Memorial Society Inc.

1. We maintain and preserve the young family memorial monument located in haldimand county and legally described as seneca river range pt. Lot 14 part 1 on 18r-5357. This monument is designated as being of cultural significance under s.29 of the ontario heritage act. In 2023 the site was maintained by the board members. 2. The adjoining burial grounds of early area settlers (young tract burying ground) is marked with basic fencing and a loyalist burial ground sign. This burial ground is perpetually maintained as a closed cemetery by haldimand county. 3. We advanced the public's knowledge at an in-person event in october 2024. Historical information about the early settlers along the grand river was exhibited and genealogy and historical material was exchanged and updated. Also at this event the haldimand museum (cayuga heritage centre) curator spoke about the history of haldimand's ports and waterways as well as other topics of historical interest in haldimand. Other attendees updated the group on the caledonia old methodist cemetery headstone pieces restoration project. Educational information sharing also occurred through a facebook page (www.facebook.com/groups/195626710478149) and by email contact throughout the year.
