Programs and activities: Since its incorporation in August 2000 YWITT has been working as a feminist community non-profit organization based in Whitehorse Yukon to advance equality in trades and technology careers. YWITT works alongside community partners and runs programs and initiatives. This includes experiential workshops advocacy support community-led research and policy work. YWITT coordinates and/or facilitates a diverse range of programs and events that provide a supportive space for youth women and gender diverse folks to explore possibilities build confidence and learn skills in the trades. Ongoing programs: 'YWITT's two bursaries (the Penny Raven Bursary and the Work Gear Fund) are offered to support women and gender-diverse individuals with support for trades training. The Penny Raven Bursaries are $500‐$1000 bursaries to be awarded to support education in technology and skilled trades by providing assistance to applicants in their quest for training at a recognized training institution. The Work Gear Fund offers a one-time bursary to support applicants to buy tools gear personal protective equipment (PPE) or work boots. Whether it is a school program (pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship) or for work we can support you with a one time boost of up to 150$ for your gear. Each bursary will be designated on an individual basis and intakes are available three times per year (September 15th December 15th and May 15th) Power Up! YWITT's Power Up! Programs are weekly experiential learning experiences for youth that run for six weeks after school in the spring and fall. Our instructors are active in their fields and can provide mentorship opportunities based on their life and career experiences Building Strong Leaders is an eight-month leadership program offers an opportunity to learn from other leaders and aspiring leaders in the skilled trades and create a network of peer to peer support.
