Wildlife habitat canada works to conserve restore and enhance wildlife habitat in canada. We fund habitat conservation projects promote conservation action and foster coordination among conservation groups trought the sale of canadian wildlife habitat conservation stamps and prints. New programs effective april 1 2019 wildlife habitat canada as an independant contractor signed a service agreement with the nature conservancy of canada to admnister and coordinate the naturel heritage conservation program a land conservation initiative intended to secure ecologically sensitive land at a maximum rate of $500 000 in a fiscal peroid for four years. Starting last year and for 3 years a new grant program called community conservation action program was launched to help small organizations to receive grants for conservation projects; a total of $160 000 in funding was approved over those 3 years. The nature conservancy of canada ducks unlimited canada wildlife habitat canada and a variety of regional and local land trust represented by the alliance of canadian land trust are working together under the natural heritage conservation program to support these goals with a commitment to protect an additional 15 000 hectares of habitat for species at risk. Wildlife habitat canada is providing grant administration services for the land trust conservation fund which is a component of the natural heritage consercation program.
