About Western Canada Peer Training Society
Western Canada Peer Training Society is a volunteer run registered charity that serves to promote education and social wellness by providing bursaries for peer support training in western Canada and to raise funds and accept donations for the programs listed above. Bursary criteria: a person self-identifies as a mental health consumer has limited financial resources is stable in their recovery and has the desire to help others. WCPTS also offers free monthly online Community of Practice sessions where peers can network learn from each other and share those strategies that they find work for them and a monthly newsletter to share news about peer support with former graduates of peer support training and other interested parties. The Community Engagement Committee was active for the year developing a series of monthly Education Capsules that focus on topics relevant for trained peer supporters to continue enhancing their skills. Each capsule offers a free follow-up interactive discussion allowing the individual to explore in depth what they learned from the capsule and an opportunity to network with their peers
